How Swanx scores a conversation
Most chat roleplay is theatre. Swanx is a training system: every turn updates six skill dimensions, a rules layer applies penalties that do not depend on the model's mood, and the coaching report cites the sentence you said — not a principle you should have known.
Two layers
The observer reads the turn and names which signals are present. The rules layer owns the arithmetic. A double concession is always a double concession. That split is why scores are comparable across sessions instead of being a vibe.
The six dimensions
Each dimension is 0–100. Scenario type changes the weights — salary weights anchoring hardest; hospitality weights emotional control and framing; workplace is closer to hospitality than to procurement. The composite is a weighted sum, not a mystery grade.
Anchoring
Who sets the frame. If you let the other side plant the first credible number, you spend the rest of the conversation negotiating inside their story. Revealing your walk-away point is a cardinal penalty — Harvard PON research on reservation value is the reason that rule is not optional.
Discovery
How much you learn before you move. Offers without questions are guesses. Voss calls calibrated how/what questions a way to make the other side solve the constraint. Swanx rewards questions that change the frame, not questions that stall.
Concessions
Whether every give is paid for. Two naked discounts in one exchange is a fixed penalty. Conditional trades — scope, timing, review date — are the rewarded move.
Emotional control
Whether you stay in the conversation after a freeze, a lowball, or a public threat. Goleman describes an amygdala hijack as the moment composure leaves the room. The score tracks the recovery, not whether you felt the heat.
Framing
Whether you argue value, options, and dignity — or only price and blame. Workplace and hospitality rooms weight this harder than a salary sim, because the psychological approach is the skill.
Closing
Whether you lock the terms you think you won. A verbal maybe is not a deal. Summarise, test, write it down.
What we will not fake
There is no star rating on this page. When promoters from in-product NPS leave testimonials, those can be marked up as reviews. Invented ratings are a manual penalty and a product lie. The score you earn in a session is the artefact.
See it on a conversation that matters
Salary, interviews, sales, workplace, hospitality, and personal tracks all use this constitution. The weights change. The honesty of the penalty does not.
